Sacred Sexuality - a definition
Monday, 19 January 2009
At its most basic, Sacred Sensuality or Sexuality refers to the notion that sex and spirit, rather than being opposed to one another (as characterized by many belief systems) are in fact one and the same! Direct bodily experience can serve as a doorway to self-knowledge and spiritual awakening.
In Sacred Sensual practices, we view the body as a divine temple, holy and perfect just as it is. Loving, non-judgmental touch is then seen as a sacred form of honoring the self and others. As we cultivate the quality of “witness” of ourselves and our behaviors, we gain freedom and choice in how we respond to life’s provocations.
